All
you have read so far is complex and difficult to understand and the basic
question remains: how does one get to the funds allocated by the European Union
to the various programmes. Very briefly the funding process is a
five-stage trip.
Initially the European Commission sets out some common objectives and policies
of the objectives it wishes to attain. In other words it forms a
programme (as any one of those mentioned on the previous page)
The
programme is then passed on to the supervision of the Directorate General
which creates a funding programme so
that funds of the European Union are set aside for the attainment of the
programme's aims.
In
the third stage, under the supervision and within the framework of the
programme a call is created and funds are allocated for distribution to
European Union citizens and businesses. These businesses or persons will
be allocated funds if they can satisfy the conditions issued under the call.
At this stage, all interested entities can apply for funding by submitting
proposals to the Directorate General.
In
the fifth and final stage the Directorate evaluates the projects submitted
with the aid of various experts in the field and the best proposals are selected,
and funds are granted to the approved projects.
